Fitzroy to be at Brisbane Lions Family Day

Next Saturday morning (February 19th) the Brisbane Lions will be having a Family Day at Etihad Stadium starting at 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Entry is by gold coin donation to the Flood Appeals. (Entry by Gate 2)
The Lions play Essendon and St.Kilda next Friday night in Rnd 2 of the NAB Pre Season Comp at Docklands.
Our Club has been invited to participate in the Family Day and we will have a stall in which to promote our Club and our role in VAFA football. Some of our star players will be there wearing their Fitzroy Jumpers together with their Lions AFL blood brothers. It's a great Fitzroy / Lions family occasion to kick off the 2011 footy season.
2011 is the 127th Season since that first Fitzroy game at the famous Brunswick Street ground on the 26th April 1884 when 1,000 fans saw Fitzroy play it's first VFA game against RICHMOND UNION to win by 12 pts. The 2011 VAFA season kicks off on the 9th April at our famous old ground.
The Lions new Queensland Spirit Jumper will also be worn in the first round of this year's NAB Cup on the Friday night as an awareness and fundraising initiative for the Queensland flood and cyclone. The jumpers feature a prominent map of Queensland on the front together with a Southern Cross, while the Fitzroy lion logo (pictured above) appears on the back of the jumper (at the top).
The AFL have dedicated this round of matches to the flood victims. 15% of all gate receipts are going to the flood appeals (in QLD and VIC).
