ROY BOYS GO AGAIN Rosanne Michie, Sunday Herald Sun, 21/11/04 |

"The Brisbane Lions look set to wear the Fitzroy jumper for only the second time in their history, averting a threat of legal action. The plan was hatched at a private meeting at a St. Kilda Rd. hotel this week. Brisbane chairman Graeme Downie and CEO Michael Bowers and Fitzroy directors Bill Atherton and Colin Hobbs met to resolve the breach of the clubs' 1996 merger agreement to play at least six Brisbane games in Melbourne. They agreed in principle that the Lions would wear the Fitzroy maroon, blue and white Guernsey emblazoned with FFC at a game in Melbourne next season, This would be over and above the Heritage round game, said Fitzroy FC chairman Dyson Hore-Lacy. The Lions have only worn the Fitzroy jumper once before, two years ago. They wore the rather outlandish former Brisbane Bears jumper in this season's Heritage game. The plan is expected to be approved by the Brisbane board and the AFL." |
