"EARLIER this month this page reported that the Fitzroy Football Club was raising money to produce a 2.74m, $60,000 statue of Haydn Bunton, to be erected at the Brunswick Street Ground. Fitzroy supporters also have the chance to own a part of this history, with artist Matin Tighe producing a limited edition of 25 bronze mini-statues, standing 45cm high. Three have already been sold. As well, Wayne Jackson and Andrew Demetriou met Tighe this week and they are interested in adding one to the AFL art collection. Tighe's other artwork includes paintings of the Roy Cazaly mark, Dave McNamara and his longest kick and the famous Bunton photo which was bought by Fitzroy and prompted the club to approach Tinghe about the statue. Tighe's next scuplture will be of Cazaly's mark, which he hopes the AFL will place outside the MCG. For details, call Fitzroy secretary Bill Atherton on 9580 9389." |
