Dennis (Dinny) ryan

1936 Brownlow Medalist

Dennis (Dinny) Ryan played 70 games for Fitzroy between 1935 and 1939. He was recruited from Albury, which was where the club had recruited Haydn Bunton from four years earlier. He kicked 46 goals in his debut season to lead the Fitzroy goalkicking. In the following season (1936) a move to centre half back led to him winning the Brownlow Medal as a 19-year-old. He played twice for Victoria. A knee injury cut his career short.
