Fitzroy Football Club: Great football, Great community, Great culture.

Fitzroy successful in Pick My Project

01-Oct-2018

We said let there be light..

And they said yes

Were absolutely stoked to be able to announce that the Fitzroy Football Club submission to give women equal opportunity to play footy in Yarrawas successful in the State Governments Pick My Project funding round!

Over 285,000 votes were cast by over 95,000 Victorians. Our project is one of 237 successful projects from across the state to share in $30.2 million of community grant funding.

The Fitzroy Board will now turn its attention to getting work underway with the City of Yarra to have the upgraded lighting installed at Ramsden Street and Brunswick Street Ovals, and work with the Edinburgh Cricket Club and Fitzroy Junior Football Club to select and install a new electronic scoreboard.

A huge shout out to all of you for casting your vote, to Frankie Freeman and Rachael Telfer for organising the Let There Be Light video, Paul Burston and Sarah Fisher for editing it, John Bedovian for designing the poster that went to local schools, and to Peter Casamento for taking the fabulous hero shot.

Special thanks to our hard working local members, City of Yarra Councillor Danae Bosler and in particular to the Member for Richmond The Hon Richard Wynne for his ongoing support, enthusiasm and advice. We simply could not have done it without you!

If youre interested, a list of the successful projects in each region and a final tally of votes received by each project is available on the Pick My Project website.
