Fitzroy Football Club: Great football, Great community, Great culture.

Nathan McLean appointed Fitzroy-ACU Women's Reserves Coach

11-Nov-2020

The club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Nathan McLean as Fitzroy-ACU Women's Reserves Coach.

Nathan has a fantastic coaching resume and is a natural fit having been part of the Roys family for a long time as well as having a great relationship with our Women's team partner, ACU. Nathan coached ACU's Women's team in the Uni Games, which drove keen interest from female students to continue on with their footy, a great partnership with ACU and Fitzroy-ACU was born!

'I am ecstatic to be contributing to a club with a great history like Fitzroy, and to work with some of the most talented up-and-coming footballers in the country," Nathan said.

Nathan now steps into his uncle's, Simon Jackson's shoes, after Jacko recently made the tough decision to step back from the role. But he'll be around when he can to ensure his former side is in good hands with his nephew in 2021 and it won't be the first time the two have worked together.

"The highlight of my coaching career was coaching alongside previous Fitzroy-ACU Women's reserves coach (and my uncle!) Simon Jackson, to a 2018 grand final appearance. The fact I get to coach this team as the reserves coach every week is now the icing on the cake. The sky's the limit for this playing group and I can't wait to see the smiles on everyone's faces when the Roy Girls take to the field once again in 2021. Go Roys!"
