Roy Boys win best and fairest

06-Jan-2016

Fitzroy Seniors Co-Captain, Rory Angiolella, and Under 19s Captain, Max Davie, have been acknowledged as the best and fairest in their respective competitions, taking out the VAFA awards on Wednesday night.

Rory was crowned the GT Moore Medallist in the Premier B competition and topped the voting with 26 votes, including seven best-on-ground performances, ahead of St Kevins Steven Salopek on 20 votes. Given St Kevins unbeaten run through the season, it was an outstanding individual effort to win given Fitzroys sixth placed finish.

Fellow Co-Captain, Daniel Bisetto, also polled well, finishing in 5th place with 13 votes.

Max Davies GW McTaggart Medal win in the Under 19s Section 2, might be even more remarkable given he only played 12 games with the team during the home and away season and polled 22 votes from the umpires. Max stepped up and played seniors several times this year and looked very comfortable at the senior level. In the Under 19s count, Maxs team mates Aidan Lambert and Sean Laidlaw also did very well, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Congratulations to Rory and Max.

The future is looking very bright for the Fitzroy Football Club!
