Fitzroy Football Club: Great football, Great community, Great culture.

Changes as Kevin Sharp joins the Board

24-Jan-2017

Boosting the Fitzroy Football Club Boards business experience, Kevin Sharp was voted in as a Director at the AGM late last year to take on the role of Director, Marketing and Membership.

Kevin will have a significant focus on sponsorships also, working closely with Grant Hammond.

After a career in business consulting, Kevin sold his businesses and became interested in the not for profit sector - firstly as a volunteer and more recently as a Board member. As a long-time supporter of Fitzroy (ever since Kevin Murray came to our junior club for a pie night in the 1960s) I want to try and use my skills to engage local businesses with the club even more, so that we can gain a level of community involvement which leads to the club becoming financially self sufficient,Kevin said.

This is the challenge for all community footy clubs but a very important job for any community trying to help young people develop life skills and encouraging greater community involvement through sporting activity. At Fitzroy, I believe we have the heritage, support and success to make it happen, and I want to be involved./p>

Following the AGM, Kelly Bembridge stepped down as Director of Volunteering due to work and family commitments. Kelly was on the Board for a bit over 18 months and did some great work with our volunteers and brought some additional rigour to our governance. Thank you Kelly and good luck with your new role at the Melbourne Football Club.

There is a resulting vacancy on the Board for a suitably qualified person to take on the role of Director Volunteering. If you would like an initial, confidential discussion about the role, please contact Fitzroy Director, Tom Sargant by email.
