Fitzroy Football Club: Great football, Great community, Great culture.

Marcel makes it 11

When Marcel Laidlaw debuted for Fitzroy Senior Men’s against Old Geelong on Saturday July 1 he joined 10 others who are playing now, or have played One’s footy for the Roys from the 2017 Division 1 Colts side.

This underlines the importance of the Junior club in developing players for the Senior club. And exemplifies our new mantra of unification: We are Fitzroy.

Marcel is joined in the team photo by Tom McKenzie (Tom’s Dad Robby is the Coach in the middle), Harry Tauber, Donovan Toohey, Darcy Lowrie, Jack Hart, Sunny Brazier, Jock Green, Harrison Grace, Pasquale Curcio and Charlie Faubel.

Charlie is missing from the photo, probably just doing what globetrotter Charlie does. Garry Gorilla (aka Warwick) is standing back left, at the opposite end to son Jock. Garry was Assistant Coach.

We look forward to enhancing the transition of Fitzroy Junior FC players to senior ranks, either through the Under 19s, or directly to the Men’s. Just like from 2017.

And because mantras are, after all, meant to be repeated, we will:

We are Fitzroy.
