Pickering and Mitchell to share coaching duties in 2016

08-Jan-2016

Former Fitzroy AFL player, Nick Mitchell, has been appointed to share the senior coaching role with current Senior Coach Michael Pickering for 2016.

Nick was Senior Assistant Coach alongside Michael this year and the pair have formed a strong team, now looking to ensure the Fitzroy team is playing Premier B finals in 2016.

Nick brings excellent playing and coaching experience to the role. He was on the Fitzroy Lions senior list for four years in the mid 90s, playing nine senior games. He was also a premiership captain and best and fairest winner with St Bernards. A premiership player at West Brunswick, Nick has played over 300 senior games. Nicks coaching experience includes three years as Senior Coach at Old Geelong FC (2009-2011) and Assistant Coach with St Bernards.

Im extremely excited to be appointed as Fitzroy Co-Coach but to be honest things wont be a lot different. Michael has been so welcoming since I came to the club last year and weve worked as a team from the start, so really its just a small shift,Nick said.

Tim Bell has been re-appointed as the U19s coach for 2016 and John Marshall reappointed as coach of the FitzroyACU Womens team playing in the Victorian Womens Football League.
