Practice match update

13-Mar-2019

In the lead up to Round 1 our teams are fine tuning their craft with some top-class opposition in coming weeks.

This weekend (17 March) the senior womens and mens squads head out to the home of the Bombers, to take on St Bernards.

The women will have the first session at 12.15 pm and play two 20-minute halves.

The Reserves men will play 3 x 20 minutes starting at 1.05, followed by the Senior men, who will play four quarters of 25 minutes starting at 2.30pm.

The ground can be found at Melrose Drive, Tullamarine.

At the same time the VAFA is hosting two International Rules games at Elsternwick Park, with Fitzroy-ACUs Emma Delaney and Fitzroy premiership player, Tom ODonnell featuring in the Big V sides.

Next weekend (23 March), Fitzroys Mens teams will be playing University Blacks at Victoria Park:

  • Under 19s will play 4 x 15 minutes starting at 9.30 am
  • Thirds will play 4 x 15 minutes starting at 11 am
  • Reserves will play 4 x 20 minutes starting at 12.30 pm
  • Seniors will play 4 x 25 minutes starting at 2.25 pm.

The surface at Victoria Park is looking fantastic and this is a great opportunity to test ourselves against one of the pace setters for Premier B and our Round 2 opponent.

The Fitzroy-ACU squad will be playing Melbourne University at Kevin Bartlett Oval:

  • Reserves will play 4 x 20 minutes starting at 9.30 am
  • Seniors will play 4 x 20 minutes starting at 11.30 am.

We are still looking for volunteers for these games so please contact Sharon Torney (secretary@fitzroyfc.com.au) if you can help.

The first test of the home decks is on Saturday 30 March, with all teams playing in the lead up to our season launch that evening at the Fitzroy Victorian Bowling Sports Club.

The whole club is playing Marcellin with games at Brunswick Street Oval and Ramsden Street throughout the day.

At Ramsden Street Oval we will see the Thirds up first at 9.20am, followed by the Fitzroy-ACU womens sides with Reserves at 11.40am and Seniors at 1.40pm.

Over at Brunswick Street, the U19s (9.20am), Reserves (11.40am) and Seniors (2pm).
