Fitzroy Football Club pays our respects to 1995 Uni Reds Premiership player Peter Triandos, and the club sends it deepest condolences to Peter's family, friends and teammates.
His teammate Justin Doyle penned this tribute.
We lost one of our tribe.
In late March-early April, the devastating news came our way that Peter Triandos was no longer with us.
Peter was part of the amazing Triandos family, which provided our football club with two talented and authentic brothers during the 90s.
Along with his flashy brother Angelo, Peter was an essential part of the 1995 Premiership team (pictured below), so integral off half back, he was awarded best of ground in the Grand Final.
In 2025, our team had the pleasure to reconnect for the 30 year reunion at Brunswick Street Oval with Pete in great spirits with his big Greek smile, as we all reminded him of his feats in the Grand Final.
As always with stories and beers, the tale gets taller and taller. However there really is no room for exaggeration in the pivotal moment in club history in this narrative of Pete receiving a handball from Chooka James between the wing and half forward, deep into the last quarter of the '95 Grand Final, running to 40–50m out and booting a beautiful, on-the-run goal.
Essentially the sealer for our premiership win.
Angelo kicked 6 that day, but that one by Pete was a true treasure, one we're sure Angelo loved watching as the football sailed over his head, and more than happy to have his lead ignored.
I can't quite work out why Peter did not have a nickname, because nearly everyone did. Perhaps it was because he was a prosecutor and the core protagonists didn't want to risk their jive talk with him. So Pete was Pete.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays at Brunswick Street, the silhouette of the Prosecutor would be seen on the dark paths around the oval, rolling up to training in his suit and tie with his footy bag in hand, releasing all his legal crap for the day, and hitting the track and immersing himself into the sessions.
Off the track and game day, Pete was invested in our club community and events, always contributing to best outcomes.
This has been said many times in the past, however Pete was genuinely one of those individuals folks have only good things to say about.
Pete was a true gentleman and a special soul.
Here’s to Pete!
Truly missed and loved by his tribe and all.
