At the 2021 AGM, two new directors were elected to the club's board. We're very excited to welcome our new directors in Emily Andersen and Corbin Stevic and share what joining the board means to them.
Corbin Stevic — Director of Club Development and Sustainability
Corbin returns to the Roys after an overseas stint. "I was a player with Fitzroy for four years before my playing days were cut short by career opportunities outside of Australia. I regretfully missed the 2018 Premier C premiership but feel I contributed somewhat by missing crucial shots on goal in the final game of the previous season that saw the club relegated from B Grade!" Corbs says.
"Since returning to Australia, I have been extremely excited to attend Fitzroy games at Brunswick Street Oval, now as a spectator. And I have been helping pursue development of the BSO precinct to deliver new facilities for the benefit of all Edinburg Gardens sporting clubs, their players and their supporters—stay tuned!"
Energised by watching the Senior Men compete in Premier B, and observing the diversity that now exists at our great club, it was difficult for Corbin to not to get more involved again.
"After growing up in the country, I spent a few years in Melbourne before I found my way to Fitzroy. Walking into the doors as a player I felt right at home. There are committed and passionate people from all walks of life, and I found some great team mates who are now some of my best mates.
"It is this community atmosphere, which made my playing days so fulfilling, that has drawn me back to the club.
"My role on the board will focus on membership, merchandise and major developments. If you are a past player, expect to hear from me! Strategically, it is hoped that this role will contribute to the sustained growth and success of the club, and through this its financial sustainability."
In 2022, Corbin is excited to see all our teams back on the park and our community back at the footy.
"With so much football not played in the last two years, I am looking forward to all of our players enjoying their footy again, and all of our members cheering them on. I can't wait to see both the Men's and Women's teams take it up to some fierce opposition."

Emily Andersen — Director of Events
Emily is a lifelong Roys supporter who found her way back to the club after previously serving as a director before also moving overseas (as did Corbin).
"I’ve barracked for Fitzroy all my life thanks to my late mum who began following the Roys in the VFL in 1970,” says Emily.
“I was previously on the board as the Media Director in 2014, and was a social media volunteer before that. I wanted to come back onto the Board so I can do more for this great club and work alongside our awesome Fitzroy people. I’m so excited to re-join the Board as I was only on for a year last time before moving overseas to study in late 2014."
Returning in a new capacity to look after club events, Emily will look to deliver some excellent experiences for our players and members after so long without being able to come together in person.
"I’ll be responsible for events at Fitzroy, organising the season launch, game day lunches, the Reds Ball, the Redlow, and other events such as player and sponsor events throughout the season.
“I’m looking forward to building on Kate Nolan's fantastic work in this area."
For Emily, being part of the Roys is very special, and something she's very passionate about.
"It’s hard to put my love for Fitzroy into words!,” Emily says. “Fitzroy is one of my passions in life and the club has given me some amazing and emotional moments.
“I want to work with others to ensure the club's strength and longevity so that supporters new and old (and future!) can continue to experience this beautiful football club and be part of the Fitzroy community."
Looking to the season ahead, there's a lot Emily is excited to see, especially when it comes to the power of the Roys community at our games.
"Along with watching great football played by our talented and dedicated women and men, and spending time with our lovely Fitzroy community, I’m looking forward to seeing my daughter Arabella run around with her cousins and family friends at Brunswick Street Oval on game days.
“It makes me so happy that my cousins, friends and I can take our kids to watch Fitzroy play as our parents did when they took us to Princes Park and the Western Oval."
D Squad: beach patrol
As the formal pre-season program evolves into practice games for the D Squad, this mob of tyros spent a Saturday morning at South Melbourne beach recently. King Kelpie, Toby Hudson Bevege, rounded up his mob as they left the water. Boxing, a 5km run, a 1km swim, more boxing, more sand chores. From the left in the photo: Toby, then Jack Hart after a perpendicular experience in the water, emerging talent Rhys Seakins, Charlie ‘Baywatch’ Faubel, Senior Men's B&F recipientTed Clayton and runner up Donovan Toohey on the foreshore, urging their protégées on. ‘Sexy Ridge’ Darcy Lowrie showing us what he’s got. And oh, by the way, that’s Jock Green learning more about playing in the wet.
Roll on real stuff!!
