The guernseys are still on the rack for the time being as new announcements work their way through all the appropriate avenues to determine if we can have a 2020 season.
Sunday's announcement from the Victorian Government for community sport has given us some exciting dates to look forward to.
From Monday 13 July we will be able to commence with full-contact training and a date has been set for a potential return to competition from Monday 20 July.
While the date for competition has been set by the State Government, and is a positive step forward, we still have a lot to work through.
AFL Victoria will now work with Leagues, Clubs, participants, coaches, umpires and volunteers to ensure we return to competition play in an effective and safe manner in adherence with Victorian Government guidelines and the AFL Return to Play (RTP) Framework.
The VAFA Board will meet the week beginning June 22 to determine whether a season will proceed and provide further advice specifically related to VAFA RTP will follow.
We’ll need to wait for news from this meeting of the VAFA Board meeting about what RTP means for our association, us as a Club, and all of our teams individually. Once this occurs, the FFC Board will meet to form decisions based on this news, so it may not be until the following week until more is known about Fitzroy's approach to 2020.
The Club's Directors would like to express their sincere thanks to coaches and players for the respect shown for the RTT protocols since we've been back at training and for their spirit and enthusiasm as we've come back together. It's been wonderful to see.
Thanks to or local community for also being so understanding of the protocols and vacating ovals while sessions are on, and not crowding spaces by watching the sessions. We know it's hard.
We're all keen to get our season going, and we know it's been a long few months without answers, but we need to stay patient and wait for the information to come to hand.

Did you catch The Tank on The Front Bar on Wednesday night?
If you missed it, be sure to give it a watch. Micky is still in fantastic shape and shared some great laughs with the boys.
