Lest We Forget

The ANZAC Round is a special one to us – it has significant meaning for the club which lost 13 men during the two world wars.

This year we will again mark ANZAC Day with a special celebration and ceremony.

Jazz musician, teacher and trumpet player Ashley Ballat will play The Last Post at Brunswick Street Oval at 2pm sharp. Don't miss this beautiful moment.

At half time, the club will remember its fallen, with a wreath laying and short commemorative service at the Edinburgh Gardens Sportsmen's Memorial next to the grand stand. Everyone is welcome to join.

Before that, we will hold our ANZAC lunch, brought to you by major sponsor Jellis Craig, looking at the challenges of modern veterans.

Group Captain John Ward, from the Royal Australian Air Force, will speak about the importance of ANZAC Day, particularly for young veterans, and how we can help build resilience with young service men and women right from the start of their training.

It's a special day so please come along to support your club and remember its history too.

Lest we forget.

Round 3 action!

Our Senior and Reserves Men are back at Brunswick Street Oval this weekend and will participate in our annual ANZAC celebration, brought to you by major sponsor Jellis Craig. We'll have a performance of The Last Post by Ashley Ballat and minute's silence at 2pm before the Senior Men's match.

The Fitzroy-ACU Women's teams will be away, taking on Old Camberwell and are looking to hold their spot on the winner's list after starting the season 2-0.

Milestone Roys

This week we recognise the achievements of Sarah Lynas, Ted Clayton and Will Symons who will all represent the Roys in game 50 when they take the field this weekend.

Sarah Lynas is a foundation player for our Fitzroy ACU Women's team and was the first player to come up from the Juniors (with her mum for the first meeting!) which we love to see. Sarah is a strong club leader and well respected by her peers on and off the field.

Ted Clayton and Will Symons are both stars and career-long Fitzroy diehards. Ted and Will have also come through the Fitzroy Juniors and were plucked from the U19s in their first seasons with the Roys to impress on the field as young guns in the Senior ranks. They're both excellent examples of the pathway from the Fitzroy Junior Club to the Fitzroy Football Club.

We're incredibly proud of Sarah, Ted and Will as they achieve this milestone in their playing careers.

Go Roys!
