We miss footy and we miss our community, but while we're physically distancing and staying at home, we know we're all still connected.
The Club is focussed on working hard on our future and is always looking forward. With no footy, the Club continues to work through plans and projects. We certainly won't stop doing what we need to do to be a strong and competitive football cub in the future. We'll have some challenges, that's for sure, but we're determined to work through, and overcome them.
You might have seen in the news this week that community sport is experiencing some severe impacts from COVID-19, and not just financially. Our Senior Mens captain Julian Turner did a great job representing the Club on the evening news on Wednesday talking about what our Club means to our community. The video is here if you missed it.
We also had another Roys player in the media this week, Dr Freya Shearer made an appearance on ABC's 7.30, giving important information about her work on how we're managing COVID-19 in Australia. Her work would be made a lot easier if we all wear our masks and do the right thing, so let's all do what we can. Well done Dr. Shearer and Captain Turner, the Club is so proud of you both.
Wear a Mask
We all need to play our part and follow the instructions by our State Government, but it doesn't mean we can't also show our Roys pride at the same time!
Support the Roys, wear a mask and stay safe!
Made locally, these re-useable masks will help keep you and the community safe as we work together to get through this hard time.
Thanks to Roger in Lancashire who is helping to paint the UK town Roys!
A beautiful Fitzroy cap now sits atop the statue of Eric Morecambe, of Morecambe and Wise fame (a famed sketch comedy duo for you youngsters!).
Thanks for sending the snap in to us Roger, and for spreading the word of the Roys around the world!
The Club we hold so dear
Thanks to everyone who has already placed pre-orders for our Fitzroy Forever shirt! We've been overwhelmed by the support!
The Fitzroy Football Club is a strong, vibrant community club with a proud history that we are passionate about preserving and strengthening as we pursue success on and off the field. 2020 has been tough for everyone and community footy has been hit hard.
All proceeds from this shirt will go directly back to the club. Help us get through this crisis and allow us to continue bringing our community together through football.
Printing and distribution will begin from the end of next week so if you're yet to place your order, be sure to do so today to get one of the first hot off the press!
Thank you to everyone who got their raffle tickets to support the mighty Roys!
We raised a total of $5,700 which all goes directly to the Club. Thank you!
This year we ran our raffle through the Toyota Good for Footy Raffle and the national prize pool raised a record $750,000 for over 480 clubs across TAS, VIC, SA, NSW, QLD, ACT & NT.
Ticket sales were stronger than ever even during a challenging and interrupted footy season due to COVID-19 and the raffle reached its capacity far faster than we thought, but achieved a fantastic result for community footy around the country.
The raffle will be drawn at at 12pm on 20 August so fingers crossed prizes go to Roys supporters!
