This weekend marks a significant moment in our club's proud history as we participate in a Pride Game for the first time.
Our Senior and Reserves Women's teams will take to the field this Sunday against Melbourne University in Pride guernseys and we'll have plenty of events throughout the day to celebrate this special occasion.
MUWFC has hosted and participated in Pride matches since 2017 and Fitzroy was beyond excited when they reached out to include our Women’s teams in such an important display of inclusivity and celebration of the LGBTIQ+ community.
In addition to the Pride Match, the Fitzroy Football Club has also been awarded a Change Our Game Community Activation Grant which had allowed us to put on what will be an amazing celebration event alongside the match to promote both clubs’ women’s programs and celebrate the intersecting communities that women’s football brings together.
We're honoured to have such amazing guest speakers at the lunch on Sunday including AFLW star Emma Kearney, women's footy legend Chyloe Kurdas, Fiona Newton, Emily Fox and Bobby Macumber.
We still have a few spaces open for last minute bookings - if you still want to come to the lunch on Sunday, contact Director of Events Kate Nolan via email: events@fitzroyfc.com.au
Tickets are $50 and proceeds go to our charity partner, Queerspace.
Be sure to come down to Melbourne University Oval on Sunday to support our Roy Girls and our LGBTIQ+ community!
We'll also have a post-match event where we can continue the celebrations. It's free to come along to that one but please register here so we can keep track of numbers!
It's a huge round for the Roys with the action beginning tonight when our Thirds take on Beaumaris.
Our Senior and Reserves Men are back at Brunswick Street Oval on Saturday to take on De La Salle and our Fitzroy-ACU Women's teams will heading to Melbourne University Oval on Sunday to play Melbourne University in our first ever Pride Game!
We're not holding a home game lunch on Saturday at BSO as we have Sunday's special Pride Game celebration lunch, however, the BBQ and canteen will be running as normal and we will also open the post-match bar straight after the game.
A whole weekend full of Roys action, what could be better?! See you at the footy!

New Roys Book!
For the first time, this book reveals in full intriguing detail, the cause and effect of the Fitzroy Football Club’s merger with the Brisbane Bears in 1996.
It was nothing short of the worst year ever experienced by a VFL/AFL club. This book recounts that devastating time, providing a deep understanding of the experience of the players, supporters, club officials and volunteers. Each of these perspectives are vital in understanding Fitzroy’s story; it is insufficient merely to understand how and why Fitzroy’s merger occurred - we nee to understand why it mattered.
It was fabulous to see the photography work of our own Phyllis Quealy featured by the official AFL account this week! We know Phyllis' photos are outstanding, and now the broader footy community does too!
Well done Phyllis!

We need umpires!
We are in desperate need of umpires this season.
We'll be looking to hold an information session soon and all umpiring is paid unless you're a VAFA registered player.
